2008 World's Ugliest Dog

Yesterday in Florida, a contest was held (for the 20th year!) to find the World's Ugliest Dog.

Gus The winner this year is Gus who is owned by Jeanenne Todd and her daughter Janey. Gus is a Chinese Crested (hairless?) who only has three legs due to amputation for a skin tumor. He is undergoing radiation currently for skin cancer. He is also missing an eye due to a fight with a tom-cat. He was rescued by the Todds from a bad situation and now lives in a loving home! His winnings from the contest will go to help pay for his treatments!

Gus beat out not only this years competitors, but past winners of the contest to take the title!

Do you have a dog that might win the ugly contest? We love them in spite of (or perhaps because of)their ugliness as do the Todds with Gus!

I have to say... that is one of the ugliest dogs I have ever seen. It takes a special dog to be able to pull that ugly off and I bet Gus is one of the sweetest dogs around.

Yuck. That is such a gross dog. Some dogs are just so ugly they are actually cute. And he doesn't even know he's ugly! Haha. Looks like he has a good home with people who love him.

He is an ugly one isn't he?! It is great to see that his owners don't care and take wonderful care in spite of his "looks"! I agree about being so ugly they're cute! That seems to be true about some animals!

Oh he's ugly all right. But I'm sure he has a beautiful heart.
